New Delhi: Lakhs of students appeared for Central Board of Secondary Education's Class X and XII exams which began on Monday.

For Class XII, 10,40,368 students students were scheduled to appear for exams while 13,73,853 students were expected to give exams for Class X across the country.

The exams for Class X will be held between March 2-26 while those for Class XII will be from March 2-20.

According to a statement issued by the CBSE, 1.01 percentage increase of total students has been recorded in the number of students appearing for exams this year.

Ahead of the exams, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to wish students good luck.

“12th class board exams today. Best wishes to all students. Massive traffic jams due to rains. Leave ur house early(1/2)”, he tweeted.

He added, “Traffic police, pl clear traffic jams. AAP volunteers, pl help traffic police, wherever possible(2/2)”.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier reached out to students and parents through his monthly address 'Mann Ki Baat'.

In the radio address, he said that students should make their best efforts without getting into any rat race of competition and asked parents to not put any pressure on their children.
